To strengthen the organizational support and research backing for the implementation of the nation’s New Generation Artificial Intelligence Development Plan, the Ministry of Science and Technology has established the New Generation Artificial Intelligence Development Research Center (hereinafter referred to as the “Center”). The Center is based at the China National Center for Science and Technology Information and the China Academy of Science and Technology Strategy Studies, and it maintains extensive connections with scholars and industry professionals in the field of artificial intelligence. Its goal is to provide advisory recommendations on AI development strategies and cutting-edge technological directions. At the seminar, experts including Zhou Zhihua, Chen Yunji, Wang Xiaogang, Zeng Yi, Zhou Bowen, Shi Yaoyun, Zhang Minling, Yin Shouyi, Cha Zhengjun, and Tang Ke exchanged views on emerging trends and development directions in artificial intelligence, covering areas such as machine learning, intelligent chips, computer vision, brain-inspired intelligence, and quantum intelligence.
Vice Minister Li Meng stated that establishing the research center is an important step in advancing the development of artificial intelligence in our country. She expressed the hope that the research center will further strengthen its sense of mission and urgency, enhance long-term, continuous monitoring and tracking, promptly assess macro trends, and bolster its strategic and policy reserves. The center should strive to integrate resources from various think tanks and institutions, creating a widely influential platform for AI research collaboration and fostering synergy in addressing major AI-related issues in China. Focusing on strategic goals and key challenges, the center should continue conducting high-quality research and produce impactful findings, thereby making positive contributions to helping China seize the significant opportunities presented by AI development and driving an overall leap forward in national competitiveness.
